Cloud services are much more than just virtualization and online storage. Big Data and the Internet of Things (“IoT”) are two emerging areas of technological innovation that are having a profound affect on how we work, live, and play and (soon) will have a similar impact on how we learn. In this practical, hands-on session we will explore one such Internet of Things tool, the AWS IoT Button, and explore how it could be used in a variety of education settings from the classroom, to facilities and transportation management, as well as the district office. In addition to exploring the Internet of Things and how AWS services can be used in your own IoT deployments, we will roll up our sleeves and work with a hands-on demo of the AWS IoT Button exploring how AWS services and offerings can help you bring IoT to your school. Attendees will leave with practical examples, schematics, code samples, and an AWS IoT Button of their own to build, test, and deploy their own proof of concept as well as a deeper understanding of the critical role AWS plays in both IoT and data analytics.
