Securing our Schools: Cybersecurity for K-12 IT Professionals

This course is designed to equip IT professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the current K-12 cybersecurity landscape and the activities that increase security and protection in their computing environment.

In this 2-hour self-paced course, education IT leaders will:

  • Review the threat landscape in K-12 education and understand federal recommendations for strengthening school cybersecurity;
  • Complete a comprehensive risk assessment for your school’s infrastructure and data systems;
  • Learn about control, authentication, and backup measures that protect networks and increase data security;
  • Create an incident response plan to handle cybersecurity issues that arise in your school;
  • Explore security awareness and training programs for leaders, educators, families, and students; and
  • Understand how other schools implement cybersecurity initiatives.

Install on your Learning Management System: 

Microsoft education customers who have purchased Microsoft 365 A3 or A5 licenses are eligible to download the full course (in five modules) so you can import, adapt, and install on your own learning management system (LMS). You will need a password provided by your Microsoft Account Executive to access the SCORM downloads.

 

Each module and its associated resources (i.e., action plans, videos, and resources) are packaged as a SCORM 1.2 learning object which is compatible with most LMS platforms. If you are unfamiliar with SCORM learning objects, take a look at SCORM Explained 101 as well as these two videos we developed on importing and publishing SCORM files and the second on adapting and personalizing SCORM files in your LMS.
