Start a new project by creating your own custom project from scratch or choose from the following templates:
Observational Data Project
Independent/Dependent Variable Experiment
Trial-based Comparison Project
Time-lapse Image Project
These templates are designed as flexible starting points and can be easily modified to fit the needs of specific projects.
Look for the question mark buttons. They'll provide you with detailed help on the current section of LiC: Science Journal.
Setting up a Project
To begin a project, you will fill out the fields in the introduction card. This helps you capture the information you need to conduct an experiment according to the scientific method, including the essential question, hypothesis, materials, and procedures.
In setup, you may create or modify variables on the observation cards, the forms you use for gathering data.
In this stage of a project, you gather and record data, notes, and images into observations. Each observation contains a set number of observation cards.
Photographs can be added to observation templates either automatically when taken with the camera on your device, or imported from the camera roll.
Completing and Reviewing Projects
Once your observations are complete, you fill out the conclusion card. The fields on this card help you reflect on knowledge gained during the course of the experiment or study. For instance, comparing your results with your initial predictions.
Observation data can be reviewed in table format and exported for use in other applications.
The flipbook feature allows you to view card images sequentially.
As you go through the process of creating and completing projects, you will earn accomplishment badges. Badges reward you for using and exploring the many tools and features in the LiC: Science Journal application. This increases your facility with the app while building your understanding of the scientific method.
