Winner Chosen in School Library Technology Makeover

The award from Acer and Intel helps a flood-damaged Iowa elementary school rebuild.

Washington Irving Elementary school in Iowa is the winner of the Acer and Intel School Library Technology Makeover. With the goal of helping K-12 schools improve the outdated and inefficient learning environments of their libraries, the program offers the winning school ten new Acer Aspire Timeline notebooks and two all-in-one desktop computers.

More than 81,000 voters nationwide helped to decide the winner from a field of ten entrants. A key part of the winning submission was a video showing effects of recent flooding at the old school campus.

"The value of the Acer/Intel technology makeover, both for our students' academic advancement and the school's infrastructure modernization is like a dream come true," said principal Roger Wilcox. "It represents a sorely needed resource that will continue to support students and teachers for years to come, and this is a symbol of the progress we're making toward rebuilding our school."
