Albert Community School, in the Regina Public Schools in Saskatchewan recently launched a 1:1 laptop project with support from Information Services Corporation (ISC), which donated $90,000 to help fund the pilot. Students from Grades 5 through 8 will have a notebook computer to use at school, and some classrooms have been equipped with projectors and smart boards. Those additions will make the school the most technologically advanced in the region.
Jeff Stusek, CEO of ISC, said the project developed out of several meetings with Albert School administration and ISC's commitment to bridging the technology gap that exists between inner-city schools and those schools in more affluent neighborhoods. “If we can get one student engaged in education who wasn’t before, it’s a success,” says Stusek.
