Intel Weighs in on Key Issues in the Lone Star State

In three recent case briefs Intel supports Texas ed tech proponents in their efforts to keep the state moving forward.

In recent months, Texas has been grappling with several issues related to education, technology and funding. In three new case briefs, Intel addresses some of these issues and makes recommendations.

One case brief supports the state's new legislation giving districts the authority to use state textbook funding to purchase digital materials and the PCs to run them. These changes, the brief maintains, are important ways of saving money and raising student achievement.

The Texas Emerging Technologies brief urges the Texas legislature to continue funding for the Emerging Technology Fund (ETF), which helps the state's economy in three vital ways: attracting renowned research teams with proven histories to the state; matching federal or private funds awarded to Texas institutions; and investing directly in early stage technology companies.

Finally, Intel makes the case for including laptops for students in Texas' annual sales tax holiday, to take place from August 21-23.
