Freedom to Learn: Part 1 - Hale Middle School
T.H.E. Journal's first of three articles on the results of Michigan's Freedom to Learn laptop program.
T.H.E. Journal is producing a three article series on the results of Michigan's Freedom to Learn (FTL) one-to-one laptop intiative.

The first of three articles focuses on Hale Middle School, grades 5-8 with 230 students, in a rural area of Michigan and where 70 percent of the students are on a free and reduced lunch program.

The article looks at how the school has successfully integrated technology into curriculum. It also looks at how the FTL program is helping the school achieve an environment where every child can have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Hale Middle School's evaluation scores are also examined and show how the student engagement has increased significantly in 2004 - 2005.

The story also highlights the positive findings on the practical effect of the FTL program, the effect on student engagement and the effect on teachers in Hale Middle School.
