FROM KLEIN ISD, TEXAS

Karen Fuller
Chief Technology Officer

Karen Fuller has been involved in K-12 education for 19 years. She began as a classroom teacher in Diboll ISD, teaching microcomputer applications on Apple IIe's, and then became the technology coordinator for the district. From there she moved to become the technology manager for ESC VII, in Kilgore, Texas. In 2004 she became the district technology trainer and, later, the director of technology in Marshall ISD. Fuller has been with Klein ISD since 2006, first as the director of information technology and now as CTO. She has designed, implemented, and supported campus LAN's, district WAN's, and regional networks, and has conducted workshops on technology integration, grant writing, supporting district hardware and software, and technology planning. In addition, she has worked with districts on implementing wireless, VOiP, and distance learning networks, and developing curriculum for technology integration; has provided technical training for technology staff; and has served on state committees for developing hardware standards and teacher standards in technology.

Ann McMullan
Executive Director for Educational Technology

As executive director for educational technology at the Klein Independent School District near Houston, Texas. Ann McMullan leads a team of instructional technology specialists and media and library services staff who work closely with both the district's curriculum office and the IT staff to assure that all instructional support systems are aligned to maximize the use of technology for teaching and learning. She served as the co-chair of the state educational technology advisory committee which developed the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology 2006-2020. This long-range plan serves as the framework upon which all school districts in Texas build their own technology plans as well as a guide for the state legislature and the Texas Education Agency in establishing policies around educational technology. Frequently called on to advocate for the value of technology in teaching and learning, McMullan has addressed federal and state agencies and committees. She is also a frequent presenter at state and national education conferences. In 2008 ISTE honored Ann McMullan with its Making It Happen (Pink Jacket) Award. The Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) presented Ann McMullan with its Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual TCEA conference in February 2010.

FROM AUBURN CITY SCHOOLS, ALABAMA

Debbie B. Rice
Director of Technology

Debbie Rice provides the vision and leadership behind the successful plan for integration, utilization, evaluation and expansion of educational technology in all academic disciplines for the Auburn City Schools – which was selected in September, 2007, as a Smart Showcase District. Currently, she is leading an aggressive one-to-one roll-out across the district to include extremely well articulated scale and sustainability components. Rice supported the development of the technology plan for the Auburn Early Education Center, an innovative, technology-rich kindergarten school, that was awarded the Intel / Scholastic School of Distinction Award. She serves on a variety of boards and committees at the local and state level and has presented at various state and national conferences including NECC, CoSN, Intel's 2006 Visionary Conference and Intel's 2006 Atlanta CoDIF and 2007 ePIC conferences. She is currently enrolled in the Masters Program at Auburn University seeking her degree in Administration and Supervision of Curriculum.

Jason D. Wright
Principal, Auburn Jr. High School

Jason Wright has been the principal at Auburn Junior High School (8th and 9th grades) since July 2003. Prior to that he served as an assistant principal, teacher, and coach with stops at Auburn High School, Smiths Station High School, and Cullman High School, dating back to 1993. He completed his Ed.D. in educational leadership in May 2008 from Valdosta State University. He has presented on a variety of topics at the state and national levels for organizations including the Alabama Department of Education, Alabama Educator Technology Conference, Florida League of Middle Schools, Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, and the National Positive Behavior Support Conference.
